Cheryl Larson teaches both group and private violin lessons. She was a member of the San Jose Symphony first-violin section for more than 20 years. Her teachers have included Zoya Leybin and Jorja Fleezanis from the San Francisco Symphony, Andor Toth at Stanford University, and Alice Schoenfeld at USC. She has played with many other orchestras and chamber music groups in the Bay Area.

Cheryl studied music and Suzuki pedagogy at San Francisco State University. Her teacher for the Suzuki teacher training was Walter Haderer, who is credited with bringing the method to this country. She also uses traditional violin methods from highly-respected violin pedagogues such as Paul Rolland and Kurt Sassmannshaus. Her students are quite successful and most play in the San Jose Chamber Youth Orchestras. 

She has a degree from the University of Minnesota in French literature, and a Certificate in Professional Editing from UC Berkeley. She has also taught French, English, and writing and edits for non-profits and businesses.
